Prepare yourself with in-depth instruction.

Start with the basics of electrical flow, schematics and wiring diagrams, the National Electric Code and OSHA certification.

Learn about alternating currents, conductors and cables, wiring techniques and calculating branch circuits and feeder loads.

Explore electric motor principles, the major components of a typical HVAC system, and testing and troubleshooting practices.

Focus on Life Safety Specialty Systems like fire alarms, pools and spas: plus solid state relays and control panel components.

About Centura

Founded in 1969, Centura College specializes in preparing graduates for a wide variety of career opportunities. There are three Centura campuses in the Tidewater Virginia area, located in Chesapeake, Newport News and Norfolk.

The Construction Electrician Program is offered at Centura’s Norfolk and Newport News campuses. The Norfolk campus features a 24,000-square-foot facility with computer labs, lecture halls and specialized labs for hands-on training. The Newport News campus spans more than 32,000 square feet and offers modern classrooms, computer labs and hands-on training environments. Not all programs are available at all locations.
