Medical Assistant
Phase 1
Start with study of basic body systems, including muscular, lymphatic, integumentary, neurological and more.
Phase 2
Explore essential subjects such as professional behavior and communication, legal/ethical issues, and safety and infection control.
Phase 3
Learn about the procedures of a medical office, including client relationships, implementing electronic health records, and more.
Phase 4
Focus on phlebotomy and laboratory procedures, including quality control and assurance, plus relevant regulations.
Medical Assistant with Limited Scope Radiologic Technology
A 65-week entry level program that includes all of the above, plus training in X-ray techniques.
Phase 1
Start by reviewing shielding and exposure restriction, image receptors and protective devices, plus radiation’s biological aspects.
Phase 2
Explore common terminology, positioning and imaging principles, including radiation protection, anatomy and more.
Phase 3
Prepare for the AART Exam, and put your learning to work in a practicum, covering quality and safety skills and procedures.

The Medical Assistant Program and Medical Assistant with Limited Scope Radiologic Technology programs are offered at Centura’s campuses in Norfolk, Newport News and Chesapeake.
